We’re back!

Laurie and I decided that the time to slack off was over; we’re going to kick this site back into gear and get back into taking photos and posting them.  It’s been so long since I last logged in here that I forgot my password!

With that said, check back on a monthly basis, as we’re starting out slow.  We’ve picked two words for the next month and a half, and a field trip planned.  Once we get back into the swing of things, we may switch it up a bit, but trying for a picture a week was a daunting task, with all of our other priorities being, well.. priorities.

Fourth Volley: Shine

Shine: is most commonly known as a brightness from a source of light; radiance or luster. It can be used to refer to items that are excellent in quality or appearance. Shine is also slang for a shoeshine, fair weather, a prank, whiskey or moonshine.

Third Volley: Born

Born: Traditionally used to describe something as being brought into life by birth or brought into existence; created: A new nation was born with the revolution.

Born can also be used to describe something as native to a particular country, region, or place. Often used in combination: Irish-born; Southern born and bred; Boston-born.

However, many people do not know that it is an alternative spelling of the Old English word “burn” meaning a stream or brook.

The Concept

We decided one day that we needed to level up our photographic skeelz, and thought about a daily or weekly photo submission based on a random word or theme. This photographic volley will both force us to get out and photograph more often, but to be more creative and reach outside our normal ranges.

Each week, we’ll upload a photo based on the theme we’ve come up with. It can be on-topic, an abstraction of that theme, or a literal interpretation. In turn, we hope to gain more technical skills, learn more about photography, maybe acquire a cult following, and of course, have some fun.
